OSB

OSB stands for Oriented Strand Board. It is an engineered wood product made by compressing layers of wood strands or flakes with adhesives. OSB is a versatile material used in construction for various applications like sheathing, roofing, and flooring. It’s known for its strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

Composition:
OSB is made from wood strands, typically from fast-growing trees like aspen and poplar, that are layered and bonded with adhesives, then compressed under heat and pressure.
Orientation:
The wood strands are aligned in specific directions within each layer, with outer layers typically aligned parallel to the panel length and inner layers crosswise, which gives OSB its strength and rigidity.
Applications:
OSB is widely used in construction for sheathing (walls, roofs, and floors), subflooring, and even in furniture and packaging.
Advantages:
OSB is a cost-effective alternative to plywood, offering good strength and moisture resistance, especially in OSB3 grades. It’s also known for its consistent density and ability to handle heavy loads.
